Tours
Farewell Spit Nature Reserve is a bird sanctuary and wetland of international importance, being more strictly protected than a national park.
Tours vary depending on the time of year. You will also stop for refreshments at the lighthouse keeper's cottage near the lighthouse and have time to explore, soak up the atmosphere.
Beaches
Tata beach is a hotspot for holiday goers, surrounded by holiday homes it's quite popular in the Summer.
The beach has lovely golden sand and a favourite for many boaters thanks to the accessibility.
Places to see
Westhaven is home to a wide range of marine wildlife. The landscape is a mix between lush native coastal forest and tidal channels providing a great habitat for wildlife.
Great place for kayaking, birdwatching and picnicking. A must see for the nature enthusiast!
Walks
A short bush track through the native bush will reveal the largest falls in Golden Bay, only 1.5km in distance (about 30mins one way).
Also a great place to have a swim and enjoy the pristine New Zealand water. Family friendly and not too difficult to walk - there's a swing bridge too!
The Heaphy Track is a popular tramping track in the north west of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located within the Kahurangi National Park and classified as one of New Zealand's nine Great Walks by the Department of Conservation.
You may even see our nocturnal carnivorous land snail or great spotted kiwi/roroa!
